What We Do
The Community Services Department provides exceptional cultural, educational, recreational, and social services to enhance and maintain a high quality of life and attractive physical environment in the Beverly Hills community. The Recreation and Parks Division is responsible for researching, implementing, and evaluating a variety of services and programs for the community with the purpose of enhancing each participant's quality of life. The Division also operates the historic Greystone Mansion and Gardens: The Doheny Estate. Through collaborative effort across multiple City sites, the Recreation and Parks Division serves as a destination for educational, recreational, and cultural endeavors for all ages and provide diverse and innovative recreation and cultural programming and services for the Beverly Hills community.
Who We're Looking For
The Community Services Department - Arts & Cultural Events Division is hiring Art Handlers for the bi-annual Beverly Hills Art Show, which runs the third weekend of every May and October, in addition to other annual events as needed. Art Handlers must be available to work during the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of each Art Show, and occasionally, on an additional date or dates as needed during the week of Art Show preparations. The position will be responsible for the safe handling and transporting of various sizes and types of artwork for the Beverly Hills Art Show. The position will need to work with and communicate effectively with others, including City of Beverly Hills staff, event attendees, and participating artists. Art Handlers are responsible for promptly communicating any Art Show-related issues or concerns with their supervisor or other Community Services Department staff, that may come up during event set-up, event break down, or at any point during the Beverly Hills Art Show. Prior to each art show, Art Handlers must also be able to respond to email and communicate with art show staff in a timely manner, to confirm their scheduled shifts for the upcoming Beverly Hills Art Show.

Salary and Benefits
$34.70 - $42.61 Hourly
This position is represented by the Municipal Employees Association, Technical Services and is covered by the negotiated terms and conditions of that Association's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Minimum Qualifications
Experience and Training:
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
One year of responsible experience in preparing, transporting, and installing two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork in a gallery, museum, or similar environment where art is prepared, packed, stored, and/or exhibited.
Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college course work in Museum Studies, Art History, Fine Arts, Studio Arts, or a related field.
License and Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license as required by the position.
