You'll be the creative leader of Camp Timberlane's arts program, inspiring campers of all ages to explore, create, and express themselves. You'll oversee the arts area and its staff, designing and adapting engaging lessons from our existing curriculum and developing new projects that spark imagination and build skills. You'll create a welcoming, inclusive studio environment where every camper feels confident trying something new, while proactively managing safety and keeping the program running smoothly. You'll collaborate closely with cabin counselors, activity directors, and administrative staff to align arts programming with camp goals, and you'll bring creativity to special events and all-camp programs throughout the summer. When arts isn't in session, you'll jump in to support other program areas and help ensure every camper has an outstanding experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, lead, and oversee engaging, skill-appropriate arts activities for campers of all ages and ability levels.
- Supervise, train, and support arts staff and specialists, setting daily schedules and providing guidance and feedback.
- Develop and adapt arts curriculum, introducing new projects and mediums to keep programming fresh and exciting.
- Manage the arts area, including organizing, ordering, and maintaining supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain a safe, clean, inclusive, and engaging creative environment.
- Collaborate with camp leadership on arts elements for special events, all-camp programs, and end-of-session showcases or displays.
- Supervise campers during activities, other programming, and special events.
- Participate fully in camp life, including meals, camp programming, and all-camp events.
- Communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and campers.
- Serve as a positive role model and uphold camp's mission and values.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Strong skills and experience in one or more art forms (such as drawing, painting, ceramics, crafts, fiber arts, or mixed media).
- Leadership experience and comfort guiding and motivating a team.
- Strong organization and planning skills.
- Previous experience teaching art or working with children is preferred.
- Enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable, able to handle long days and changing situations with a positive attitude.
- Willingness to live and work in a camp setting.

Essential Functions:
- Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Lift, carry, and move equipment up to 40 lbs.
- Monitor safety, hygiene, and wellbeing of campers.
