Student Ministry Pastor

The Student Ministry Pastor at Journey will provide vision and leadership for 6th through 12th grade students in support of Journey of Faith’s overall mission, and the vision and goals of the Family Ministry Department. This role will serve youth and their families right where they are and help them to authentically know and walk with Jesus, and to make an impact in the world around them both locally and globally. The Student Ministry Pastor will develop and implement an infrastructure for the areas overseen including standard operating systems, cultural expectations, volunteer leadership, and financial viability of the ministry.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as a team with Co-Pastor, Family Ministries Coordinator, and Student Worship Director.
  • Recruit, train, and invest in volunteers who will execute Student Ministry Programs and Life Groups.
  • Help provide pastoral care for youth and their families.
  • Champion Life Groups so that every student is connected and mentored by Christian adults
  • Develop relevant and well-rounded Scope and Sequence and weekly teaching to Middle School and High School Students.
  • Create a relevant and age-appropriate environment to reach students who do not know Christ, a place where new students are seen, loved, and accepted.
  • Create and manage the JSM student ministry calendar that will drive all the activities and teaching of the ministry all year long.
  • Partner with parents to disciple their students and create opportunities to help them win at home.
  • Identify opportunities to regularly integrate youth into every aspect of the church: Serving, Mission Trips, Worship etc.
  • Connect with students and families on Sunday mornings helping them to get involved in the life of the church.
  • Oversee a Youth Leadership Team, meeting monthly to raise up student leaders and encourage them in a deeper role within the JSM program.
  • Lead summer youth camps, mission trips, retreats.
  • Maintain clean youth facilities and maintain proper use and ongoing stewardship for Journey of Faith equipment.
  • Be an active part of the overall church at Journey of Faith, including leading huddles, hosting on stage, attending worship nights, being part of holiday events.
