The result is a revolutionary partnership designed to provide a transformative, hands-on experience for future nurses. Together, we operate an accelerated BSN program with clinical experiences at Cooper (“The TESU Accelerated BSN BAYADA Scholars Track at Cooper”). As we grow the BAYADA Scholars Track at Cooper, we are looking to add more Clinical Instructors to our team.  

 

Position Description: 

The Clinical Nurse Educator supervises students (usually in groups of 6-8) in the TESU Accelerated BSN BAYADA Scholars Track at Cooper as a clinical instructor in clinical, lab, and/or simulation settings. They work collaboratively with the Clinical Director of the BAYADA Scholars Track at Cooper and the Associate Dean of TESU’s W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing. They provide clinical learning experiences for students and promote personal and professional development. Responsibilities may include classroom education experiences. This is a part-time contractor position. 

 

 Responsibilities: 

Clinical Instruction and Learner Supervision 

  • Mentor nursing students and facilitate learning during clinical rotations and/or skills/simulation lab experiences through active guidance and support.  
  • Maintain experiential learning environments that focus on patient safety and nursing role socialization. 
  • Serve as a positive role model and resource for students on an ongoing basis. 
  • Exercise discretion and judgment to identify individual learning styles and unique learning needs of students from diverse backgrounds. Assist students to develop the ability to engage in thoughtful and constructive self-assessment. 

Student Assessment and Evaluation 

  • Provide constructive and timely formative feedback to students in real time via dialogue and weekly via documented performance summaries throughout clinical learning experiences (if applicable). 
  • Assess and evaluate student performance in clinical and/or lab settings using standardized evaluation tools. 
  • Complete required clinical evaluation forms and assessments according to program timelines. 
  • Document student performance, attendance, and clinical competency attainment level. 
  • Identify students needing support or remediation, if any. 
  • Communicate student progress to the Clinical Site Director as needed. 
  • Immediately remove any student who places themselves, other learners, healthcare professionals, or patient in danger. 

Professional Development and Communication 

  • Maintain expertise in clinical practice and evidence-based nursing care. 
  • Complete mutually agreed-upon introduction to course-specific requirements. 
  • Communicate regularly with the Clinical Site Director to support program learning outcomes. 
  • Participate in mutually agreed-upon meetings related to learner progression and program coordination. 
  • Function as an active team member to achieve identified program goals.  

Clinical, Skills Laboratory, and Simulation Laboratory Coordination 

  • Maintain positive working relationships with clinical site personnel. 
  • Ensure compliance with all clinical site policies, procedures, and requirements and professional standards. 
  • Communicate clinical site issues or concerns to program leadership in a timely manner within a reasonable amount of time to resolve issues or concerns. 
  • Facilitate positive partnerships with clinical staff and other instructors that support educational goals of the program. 

Safety and Compliance: 

  • Maintain all required health clearances, background checks, and credentials throughout the contract period. 
  • Report any safety concerns, incidents, or patient safety issues immediately to the clinical site and program staff. 
  • Protect confidential student and patient information in accordance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). 

 

 Qualifications/Requirements: 

  • Current, unencumbered, active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license 
  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MS(N) or higher) 
  • Three (3) years of relevant, progressive, professional nursing clinical experience 
  • Clinical teaching or precepting experience (preferred) 
  • Current CPR certification 
  • Background check, drug screen, and health clearances as required by clinical sites. Clinical compliance process may include out-of-pocket expenses (e.g., titers, physical exam appointment). 
  • Professional liability insurance (as required by TESU via CastleBranch compliance process) 
  • Any additional credentials required by the clinical facility  
  • MS Office, email, web-based learning systems, and clinical computer applications. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, showing an ability to work effectively as a team member. 
  • Excellent communication skills.
