Visual Design Intern

WadeTeague LLC is seeking a creative, dependable, and detail-oriented intern to support the visual development of WadeTeague, a luxury candle and home-fragrance company, and WT Publishing Group, its publishing imprint. This interdisciplinary internship is ideal for a student interested in gaining portfolio-building experience across website design, branding, packaging, photography, publishing, and digital media.

Website design and development will be the immediate priority. The intern will help create or refine a polished, user-friendly Shopify website that reflects WadeTeague’s modern luxury identity and effectively presents its products, collections, and brand story.

Expected Responsibilities

Website and Digital Design

• Assist with designing, building, and refining the WadeTeague Shopify website
• Organize page layouts, navigation, product pages, collection pages, and brand-story content
• Create website banners, promotional graphics, icons, and other digital assets
• Help ensure consistent typography, colors, imagery, and branding throughout the website
• Optimize visual content for desktop and mobile viewing
• Support basic website updates and preparation for product launches

Branding and Packaging

• Design and refine candle labels, packaging, gift boxes, inserts, care cards, and print collateral
• Develop visual concepts for seasonal collections, special-edition candles, and institutional collaborations
• Help create and maintain brand standards for typography, colors, imagery, and layout
• Prepare production-ready artwork and properly formatted files for printers, packaging vendors, and manufacturers

Photography and Content Creation

• Assist with product, lifestyle, editorial, and promotional photography
• Photograph candles, packaging, books, authors, and related products
• Retouch photographs and prepare images for websites, social media, print, and e-commerce
• Help plan and style product shoots that communicate a sophisticated luxury aesthetic

Publishing Design

• Design book covers and coordinated visual systems for book series
• Assist with interior book layouts, typography, and page design
• Create companion journals, devotionals, study guides, workbooks, and promotional materials
• Develop author graphics, book-launch materials, social-media content, and website assets
• Help establish a cohesive visual identity across WT Publishing Group projects

Social Media and Marketing

• Design branded templates and content for Instagram and other digital platforms
• Create launch graphics, advertisements, email graphics, and promotional campaigns
• Adapt designs into multiple sizes and formats for print, web, and social media
• Help maintain visual consistency across all WadeTeague communications

Desired Skills

• Graphic design and visual communication
• Website design, preferably Shopify or another e-commerce platform
• Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
• Canva or similar digital-design platforms
• Product photography, photo editing, and image retouching
• Typography, color theory, layout, and branding
• Packaging, label, or print design
• Social-media content creation
• Strong organization, communication, and attention to detail
• Ability to receive feedback and revise work collaboratively

Minimum Requirements

• Current Biola University student studying art, design, photography, digital media, marketing, communications, or a related field
• Portfolio or work samples demonstrating relevant creative ability
• Basic proficiency in at least one professional design platform
• Ability to manage assignments, meet agreed-upon deadlines, and communicate progress consistently
• Willingness to learn new platforms and work across several types of creative projects
• Access to a reliable computer and the software needed to complete assigned work
• Alignment with WadeTeague’s values of excellence, integrity, thoughtful service, faith, heritage, and meaningful storytelling

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, or another website platform
• Experience creating product pages or e-commerce websites
• Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
• Experience with product photography, studio lighting, or photo retouching
• Knowledge of packaging production, print specifications, bleeds, color modes, and file preparation
• Interest in luxury branding, home fragrance, publishing, faith-based content, or culturally meaningful storytelling

Learning and Professional Development

The intern will receive defined project briefs, regular creative meetings, constructive feedback, and appropriate credit for approved work. Completed projects may be included in the intern’s portfolio with prior approval. The experience may include exposure to luxury-product branding, e-commerce, publishing, packaging production, photography, social-media marketing, and the practical development of a growing creative business.

The internship can be structured around Biola’s academic requirements, including the 135-hour internship requirement when applicable. Work arrangements, schedule, academic credit, compensation, and the specific project scope will be discussed during the interview process.
