The Opportunity

As an IG Fixed Income Associate, you'll join right out of undergrad or graduate school as an integral part of a collaborative, close-knit team within Eldridge Capital Management's Investment Grade Fixed Income group. The team focuses on investment-grade public & private credit — including structured finance, asset-based finance, corporates, and direct origination — investing on behalf of insurance general accounts. This is a full-time position, working closely with and reporting to the team's analysts, based out of our office in Des Moines, Iowa.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis and Investment Due Diligence: Assist the team in preparing models and conducting financial analysis and due diligence on existing and prospective investment-grade private credit investments — understanding business performance, operating trends, financial forecasts, industry dynamics, and overall risk. This includes helping prepare financial models, investment memoranda, and other business analyses.
  • Investment Origination: Assist the team in diligence related to originating IG private credit investments suitable to the portfolio's risk and return objectives.
  • Portfolio Management: Assist in portfolio management activities including trade support, pricing, audit/finance/investment operations requests, legal documentation, and regulatory matters.
  • Reporting: Support ad hoc and periodic reporting on portfolios of assets and specific investments.
  • Pricing: Assist in the creation and maintenance of pricing models, applying market-consistent measures to price portfolio investments on a monthly basis.
  • Legal Documentation: Coordinate with internal and external legal teams to ensure appropriate documentation is in place to support each investment.
  • Relationship Management: Help form and maintain relationships with borrowers, sponsors, and other sources of origination.
  • Team Collaboration: Work across origination, underwriting, and portfolio management functions, and coordinate with Operations, Accounting, and Legal to ensure efficient execution.

Qualifications

  • Currently completing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree, with prior internship or academic experience in investment analysis, credit investing, or a related field at a top-tier investment bank, asset manager, or insurance investment platform preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required (or currently pursuing a graduate degree), preferably in Finance, Economics, or a related field, with a strong academic record
  • Progress toward CFA and/or MBA is a plus, not a requirement
  • Proficient in quantitative, analytical, and financial modeling skills, with strong Microsoft Excel capabilities
  • Deep interest in credit investing and appreciation for working across strategies and asset classes
  • Well organized, independent, entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization

Who Does Well Here

  • Commercial, competitive, and intellectually agile, with genuine curiosity about the market and credit
  • Highly collaborative, with a team-first attitude and strong communication skills
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and unstructured problems, and willing to form a view and defend it
  • Motivated by the opportunity to help build and grow a scaled platform

Location and Travel

This position is based in Eldridge's Des Moines, Iowa office, working a hybrid schedule with both remote and on-site work. Some travel is expected for management meetings, diligence sessions, and industry conferences.
