Front End Developer - Part Time

Our goal is to forge connections between filmmakers and worldwide audiences, ensuring creators maintain ownership and future monetization rights. With a focus on select films available each month and a revenue-sharing model, Jolt operates ad-free, emphasizing the value of content over quantity.


What We're Looking For

We're looking for a skilled front-end developer to join us for 20 hours a week and help build new product features and support optimize audience discovery efforts. This role will work closely with our technical lead, backend engineers, marketing team, and data and technology teams. The ideal candidate can pick up basic coding concepts quickly, is comfortable with media files and technical specs, communicates well with the rest of the team, and can keep several deadlines moving at once. This is a hands-on role for someone early in their career who is eager to learn, ramp up on an existing codebase, and grow alongside the project.


Responsibilities

Front End Development:

  • Build responsive, accessible web interfaces from supplied designs and mockups.
  • Translate Figma/design concepts into clean, reusable front end components using modern JavaScript and TypeScript frameworks (e.g., React).
  • Implement and maintain a consistent design system (typography, color, layout patterns) across the site.
  • Connect the front end to our backend REST APIs, handling loading, error, and empty states cleanly.
  • Build and maintain UI components for various film pages and other membership related flows.
  • Participate in code review, testing, and launch checks to ensure features are reliable before they reach members.

Asset Management:

  • Coordinate film assets coming in and going out, between internal and external sources.
  • Review and organize incoming and outgoing materials, checking them against Jolt's technical requirements.
  • Maintain inventory and delivery tracker for each film.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
  • Solid foundation in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with hands-on experience building responsive, cross-browser web interfaces.
  • Experience with a modern front end framework or library (e.g., React) and component-based UI development.
  • Familiarity with version control (e.g., GitHub) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Sharp ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to use designs and product requirements to create working, polished interfaces.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience integrating payment providers (e.g., Stripe, PayPal) or subscription/billing flows.
  • Familiarity with Git and a pull-request workflow.
  • Familiarity with connecting front end applications to REST or GraphQL APIs.
  • Familiarity with embedding social content (Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube).
  • Experience with video/media playback interfaces or streaming platforms.
  • Familiarity with UI/UX best practices, accessibility standards, and design tools (e.g., Figma).
  • Experience in a fast-paced, agile product development environment.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) or CI/CD deployment workflows.
  • Comfort working alongside AI coding tools (e.g. Claude, Codex/ChatGPT).
  • US Work Authorization - no sponsorship available
