Summary: The Outreach Coordinator will join Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS) as part of a coordinated citywide initiative to reach immigrant communities across New York City. Through community presence and outreach efforts, the outreach coordinator will help connect individuals to the appropriate CCCS program and/or the MOIA hotline for free immigration legal services, referrals, or information. The coordinator will ensure that the community knows what services CCCS provides for immigrants and asylum seekers and how to access CCCS programs for free, safe, confidential legal services. This position is ideal for someone who feels comfortable engaging vulnerable communities and who is committed to the mission of supporting immigrant families.

 

Salary: $30.21 - $32.96 per hour, this is a non-exempt hour position based on a 35 hours work week

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Plan and coordinate an outreach strategy to community partners, including parishes, DOE schools, and community-based organizations.
  • Attend community events to promote the CCCS legal services, including eligibility screenings, referrals for specialized services, and general immigration information at resources fairs, PTA/SLT meetings at schools, partner organizations staff meetings, etc.
  • Develop and distribute trainings, presentations and outreach materials for communities that we work with as well as materials distributed during Know Your Rights presentations.
  • Regularly review and update resources in our attendee packets and information about other service providers in the community.
  • Help with the tracking of outreach presentations and attendance via internal CRM and data systems in collaboration with the data team.
  • Maintain knowledge of city agencies and community resources for non-legal needs and external referrals for wraparound services.
  • Work with program coordinators to ensure full capacity clinics.
  • Support and provide coverage for program coordinators, which may include appointment scheduling and attendee confirmations to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Support the intake coordinator with communication when people reach out asking for updates, while maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Other duties as needed.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

 

This is a full-time position that will require working out in the field when conducting outreach, when necessary. The remaining time will be spent performing admin and outreach work at CCCS’ office and/or remotely. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5 PM Monday - Friday. Position requires willingness to travel to all five (5) boroughs and availability to work some weekend and evening hours. Additional hours may be required to meet case-related and/or program deadlines, or client needs.

  • Travel at least 50% of the time using public transportation or vehicle, traverse city streets, occasionally ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Remain stationary at a workstation, in meetings, and use a computer at least 50% of the time.
  • Remain stationary and/or ambulate to instruct and monitor during trainings and presentations.
  • Carry a laptop to offsite work locations.

 

Qualifications

 

Education and/or experience required:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent professional training related to the position.

 

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

 

  • Bilingual: English plus Spanish.
  • Ability and experience working with diverse individuals and communities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly organized.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, administrative, communication (in particular public speaking is a plus) and coordination skills.
  • Ability to convene and lead meetings.
  • Adept at using Microsoft office suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work both independently and in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Willingness to travel to all five (5) boroughs.
  • Availability and readiness to work some weekend and evening hours.
