STEM Innovation & Project-Based Learning Mentor
Aispire runs a purpose-driven after-school program for students in grades 5–11 focused on hands-on problem solving and Project-Based Learning (PBL). Our mission is to help students explore STEM, design, and real-world problem solving in meaningful ways — guided by mentors who care deeply about learning, youth development, and impact.
We are seeking mentors to guide student teams preparing for innovation competitions, including the Conrad Challenge, as well as related independent STEM and entrepreneurship projects.
Exceptional undergraduate candidates with strong research, engineering, competition, or startup experience are also welcome to apply.
This role is ideal for applicants with strong technical or creative skills and a desire to make complex ideas accessible, engaging, and meaningful for students.
What You’ll Do
- Design or co-design an 8-week PBL project, or mentor students through an existing innovation competition/project
- Mentor a small team of approximately 2–5 middle or high school students
- Guide students through problem identification, research, ideation, and solution development
- Keep the team on track toward project milestones, submissions, prototypes, and showcases while ensuring the work remains student-owned
- Bring your major, technical skills, or personal passions into a real-world project

- Product design and prototyping
- Technology entrepreneurship and commercialization
Program Structure
- Session length & cadence: 2 hours per session, once per week, primarily on weekends
- Format: Remote, with occasional in-person opportunities in the Bay Area
- Group size: 2–5 students per mentor / cohort
- Time commitment: approximately 3–5 hours/week, including the 2-hour session plus light preparation and student work review
Who We're Looking for
- Experience in tutoring, TA work, youth mentorship, or teamwork
- Strong communication skills and clarity in explaining STEM concepts
- Majoring in CS, engineering, AI/ML, STEM, or a related/technical field (preferred)
- Ability to brainstorm and design creative, age-appropriate projects
