Reports To: Pastor/Elders

Location: Midway Christian Church, Winder, Ga

About Midway Christian Church

Midway Christian Church is a Gospel-centered community pursuing a hybrid model of ministry — a Sunday-centered gathering paired with a growing Disciple Making Movement (DMM) engine — organized around three pillars: Belong, Become, and Believe. We are passionate about forming Gospel-centered communities where people can belong, become devoted disciples, and carry out the life-changing mission of Jesus.

Position Summary

The Worship Leader plans and leads Sunday worship in a way that draws people into genuine encounter with Jesus and reflects Midway's values of mercy, story, revelation, and growth. This role is central to Midway's Belong pillar — the Sunday gathering is a front door for the church, and worship sets the tone for how guests and members alike experience that welcome.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and lead music and worship elements for weekly Sunday gatherings, in coordination with the Pastor and overall service flow.
  • Recruit, schedule, rehearse, and shepherd a team of volunteer musicians and vocalists.
  • Select songs and worship content that is theologically sound and aligned with Midway's core values.
  • Coordinate with sound, tech, and production volunteers to ensure a consistent, excellent Sunday experience.
  • Plan worship for occasional special services (holidays, baptisms, commissioning services, etc.).
  • Help cultivate a worship culture that welcomes newcomers rather than assuming insider knowledge — consistent with Midway's Belong pillar.
  • Disciple and develop volunteer worship team members, not just manage them — consistent with Midway's broader emphasis on leaders raising up leaders.
  • Participate in relevant staff and planning meetings as needed.

Qualifications

  • A growing, credible walk with Jesus consistent with Midway's mission and values.
  • Proficiency in an instrument (guitar, keys, or similar) and/or strong vocal leadership ability.
  • Experience leading worship in a church or comparable setting.
  • Ability to lead, recruit, and shepherd volunteers with warmth and clarity.
  • Basic comfort with sound/production coordination (does not need to run the board personally).
  • Alignment with Midway's vision to be a community shaped by the life and love of Jesus.
