2027 Dates
Staff Training: May 23 - June 5 (2 weeks)
Camp: June 6 - Aug 7 (9 weeks)
What You'll Do
- Support the distribution of scheduled daily/evening medications and verified over-the-counter medications under standing orders.
- Supervise, observe changes in condition, and provide comfort care for campers resting in the Health Lodge.
- Accurately maintain medical documentation and health records for all lodge visits and outcomes.
- Serve as overnight "ears" in the Health Lodge to maintain emergency awareness.
- Communicate all health and safety concerns directly to the Camp Nurse or Health Coordinator.
- Collaborate with cabins, directors, and advocates to identify non-medical, emotional, and behavioral needs using positive guidance techniques.
- Maintain professional parent interactions and serve as a positive role model in hygiene, behavior, and camp culture.
What You’ll Gain (Resume-Building Transferable Skills)
- Healthcare Administration & Documentation: Direct experience managing medical logs, tracking patient outcomes, and maintaining clinic records.
- Clinical Support & Medication Oversight: Practical knowledge of standing orders, over-the-counter medicine distribution protocols, and condition monitoring.
- Behavioral Guidance & EQ: Hands-on experience applying emotional support, active listening, and conflict resolution techniques to care for youth.
- Interprofessional Collaboration: Skills in coordinating patient care alongside camp nurses, health coordinators, and camp leaders.
What We'll Provide
- Competitive Pay: Starting salary of $6,000 for the 11-week summer season.
- All-Inclusive Living: Full room, board, meals, and laundry services provided on-site for the duration of the contract—save on summer expenses!
- Camp Store Credit: Includes an additional $100 credit for snacks, gear, and supplies.
- Schedule: Position requires availability on-site 7 days a week (including weekends) for the contract period. To support rest and work-life balance, staff receive two 1-hour breaks each day and 1 scheduled day off every week.
What We’re Looking For
- Majors or interests in Nursing, Pre-Med, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Emergency Medical Services, Child Development, or related fields.
- Certifications in CPR, First Aid, or EMT preferred.
- Strong desire to support youth health, emotional well-being, and safety in an outdoor environment.
- Comfortable working in an active outdoor setting, walking uneven terrain, and adapting to all weather conditions.
- Core competencies in active listening, empathy, attention to detail, clear communication, and composure under pressure.
