Reports To: Executive Director & Director of Operations

Location: Portland, OR / Hybrid

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000

Humans for Housing is a nonprofit organization committed to upholding the inherent worth of all humans through storytelling, community engagement, and unrelenting advocacy for stable housing. We achieve this through mediums like documentaries, exhibits, and public forums that elevate the voices of those experiencing housing insecurity.

SUMMARY

Humans for Housing is hiring a full-time Director of Communications to lead how our programs reach people. This person produces our content, helps shape our communications strategy, and runs our communications channels. We are seeking a creative with expertise in social media who believes deeply in the mission, and who holds a collaborative ability to shape our communications strategy with our advisors. This person will also be visible at screenings, at traveling exhibit locations, on camera, and in social media replies. We are looking for an organizational champion, someone whose energy for the work is clear to everyone they meet. This role is based in the Portland metro area. We are looking to have this position filled by November 2026.

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience with 3+ years in communications, marketing, or digital content, with audience growth.
  • Social media skills, including platform instinct, content production, and marketing.
  • Located in the Portland Metropolitan Area.
