Family Engagement AmeriCorps VISTA, Los Angeles

Reading Partners is a national nonprofit dedicated to helping children become lifelong readers by connecting them with community volunteers and evidence-based literacy support. For more than 25 years, Reading Partners has worked with schools, families, and communities to expand access to high-quality literacy resources for students in historically underserved communities.

As a Family Engagement Capacity Building VISTA in Los Angeles, you will help develop sustainable systems that strengthen how families access literacy resources, participate in their children's learning, and connect with schools and community organizations. Your work will have a national reach and create resources that can support Reading Partners teams and community partners beyond your service term.

You will:

• Research and document evidence-based family engagement and parent leadership practices.
• Develop a scalable family engagement framework and planning tools for regional teams.
• Co-create a family learning series, including workshops, facilitator guides, presentations, and family resources.
• Curate educational resources and build a centralized family engagement resource repository.
• Develop a parent leadership and train-the-trainer model to equip families to share literacy strategies with their communities.
• Create surveys, data collection systems, and reporting tools to evaluate family engagement efforts.
• Analyze feedback and participation data to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop a family engagement toolkit, implementation guide, and sustainability resources.

We are seeking a curious, organized, and collaborative individual who enjoys turning research and ideas into practical tools. Strong candidates will have excellent communication, project management, research, and analytical skills, with an interest in education, literacy, family engagement, or community development. Experience developing training materials, facilitating groups, conducting research, or creating resources is a plus.

Through this service, you will gain experience in nonprofit program development, national systems building, stakeholder engagement, research, evaluation, training, and project management while building a portfolio of work with a national education organization. You will collaborate with colleagues across Reading Partners' regions and develop professional skills and relationships in the education and nonprofit sectors.
