Role Description
Ignision Education Silicon Valley is seeking Computer Science instructors for online or onsite classes. As a CS Instructor, you will teach programming and computer science courses to students in grades 5–12, ranging from introductory Python and Java to AP Computer Science A and Principles, competitive programming (USACO), and introductory AI and machine learning. Curriculum for courses will be provided and there will be minor preparation involved.
Beyond classroom instruction, you may support students on independent coding and research projects, help them debug and refine their own work, and guide them toward CS-related competitions and portfolio-building. You will play a critical role in shaping the minds of the next generation of leaders.
Qualifications
- Strong programming proficiency in Python and Java, with the ability to write clean, teachable example code
- Ability to explain abstract concepts (recursion, data structures, algorithmic complexity) in terms a middle or high school student can follow
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring, with solid classroom management
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Education, or a related field
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Passion for teaching and a dedication to student success
Preferred
Experience teaching AP Computer Science A or AP Computer Science Principles, including familiarity with the Create Performance Task
Background in competitive programming (USACO, ACSL) or experience coaching students for it
Industry software engineering experience, or research experience in AI/ML or data science
