Digital Research Intern - AI & Emerging Technologies
Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a student studying Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Machine Learning, Physics or related field to support the Arthrex Digital Innovations (ADI) team in Naples, FL. In the ADI research group, we work on several forward-looking technologies like AI, AR Sensors, etc. As an intern, you will help us work on concepts that will apply computer science, ML/Deep learning, etc., in computer vision, medical imaging, data analysis, etc. Our intern will treat each assignment as a product development process which includes clear requirements, documenting them, and validate and verify (V&V) to show the completeness of their work. This internship will run from May 2027 – August 2027. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.
Main Objective:
To advance Arthrex innovations through leveraging latest technologies and algorithms in the areas of AI, medical imaging, sensor data analysis, Computer vision etc
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze data from existing systems to find patterns and insights to help clinical use cases.
- Examine public imaging datasets to create novel segmentation approaches for the segmentation of soft tissues and anatomical structures.
- Use latest AI algorithms like LLMs to create apps to answer any questions related to medical education, DFU/IFU, etc.
- Work with interfacing sensors, microcontrollers, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Machine Learning or Physics with computational model background or recent graduate in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Machine Learning or Physics with computational model background required.
(Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
Programming experience required.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
