Internship Opportunity: Communications Intern

The Communications Intern will learn how to support the agency’s social media strategy by developing, scheduling, and publishing engaging content across social platforms. Assist with content creation, including captions, graphics, short-form video, and other digital assets. Monitor social media trends, audience engagement, and relevant conversations to identify opportunities for timely content. Tracks basic social media analytics and help prepare reports on content performance and audience growth. Support social media campaigns and communications projects for agency clients and internal initiatives. Maintain an organized content calendar and coordinate with team members to ensure timely and consistent messaging. The internship may research other state’s Labor departments to identify trends and suggestions for continuous improvement. May assist with reports, newsletter content and agency Town Hall events. Will learn how to takes professional headshots of employees and events. We encourage participation in the State of Kansas internship program professional development activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment in, or completion of, a post-secondary education.  Majors of interest are Communications, Marketing, Public Affairs, Journalism or related field of study.
