Category Management Intern

Position: Category Management & Merchandising Intern

Location: Remote

Type: Part-Time Internship

Overview:

We are seeking an analytical, tech-savvy E-Commerce Category Management Intern to help drive digital growth across our online marketplace/storefront. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience managing the digital product lifecycle—from optimizing site navigation and online catalog accuracy to analyzing web conversion funnels, tracking unit economics, and supporting vendor digital onboarding.

 

Key Responsibilities: Digital-first responsibilities and workflows.

 

  • Catalog Creation & Digital Storefront Maintenance: Build, enrich, and audit product detail pages (PDPs); manage digital taxonomies, filters, and attributes to optimize on-site searchability and SEO.
  • Digital Category Analytics: Track web traffic, conversion rates, average order value (AOV), and customer search behavior using e-commerce analytics platforms to identify growth opportunities.
  • Online Sourcing & Supplier Onboarding: Research potential digital brand partners, coordinate vendor product asset collection (images, spec sheets), and support request for proposal (RFP) cycles.
  • Unit Economics & P&L Analysis: Assist in tracking category Gross Margin Return on Investment (GMROI), landed costs, promotional discounts, and net contribution margin.
  • Digital Contract & SLA Management: Organize vendor marketplace agreements, track vendor performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs, e.g., fulfillment speed, error rates), and monitor renewal dates.

 

3.Qualifications & Requirements: E-commerce specific toolsets and technical skills.

  • Currently pursuing a degree in E-Commerce, Marketing, Supply Chain, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and familiarity with E-Commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento, Amazon Vendor/Seller Central, or similar CMS).
  • Exposure to web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Looker, Power BI) and SEO/catalog management principles.
  • High attention to detail regarding product data integrity, imagery standards, and pricing accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with digital marketing, fulfillment, and external vendor teams.
