Development Engineer
Development Engineer (full-time contract - min 6 months)
Note: Part-time, if desired, may be considered.
Primary Function of Position
Working within an Instruments and Accessories team, collaborate with design engineers to help develop next generation devices. The ideal candidate possesses the grit and interest in making progress amidst diverse technical perspectives and is capable of endurance and flexibility –able to shift between owner vs supporter, hustle vs. deliberation, and discussion vs. hands-on lab work, based on context.

- Develop robust and creative test methods to evaluate said concepts
- Investigate issues using robust and efficient experimental approaches, using statistical tools where appropriate.
- Propose and prototype design improvements as applicable.
- Collaborate with clinical, usability, design, and/or other interfacing teams to clarify design specs and requirements.
- Collaborate with process and supplier engineering to drive design manufacturability.
Required Skills and Experience (Specific skills, knowledge, and experience that an individual must possess in order to successfully perform in job)
- Proficiency with CAD modeling
- Ability to apply basic mechanical engineering first principles
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute well-reasoned experimental plans and test methods
- Demonstrated problem solving / investigation critical thinking
- Demonstrated ability to juggle between competing tasks based on priority.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through / sense of urgency
- Habitually hands-on approach and curious mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Required Education and Training (As applicable - Specific education and training that an individual must possess in order to successfully perform in job)
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.
Preferred Skills and Experience (As applicable - Specific skills, knowledge, and experience that are not required to perform the job, but are desirable to have)
- Prior work experience in medical device industry
- Experience directly with catheter-based products
- Experience with products involving electromechanical features and software
- Experience building R&D prototypes
- Experience with data analysis tools and statistical methods
- Proficiency with 1 or more automation tools or coding languages e.g. Labview, MATLAB, python, C
