Social Media + Marketing Intern

The Hive + The Sweet Spot | South Austin


The Hive is looking for a creative college student to join our team as a paid Social Media + Marketing Intern.

The Hive is an established South Austin coffee shop, cocktail bar, event space and community gathering spot. You’ll work across The Hive and The Sweet Spot—our snow cone and frozen drink trailer—creating content around coffee, cocktails, frozens, food, events and community programming.
 

This isn’t a watch-someone-else-do-marketing internship. You’ll have the opportunity to help build a growing local brand, test ideas with real customers and create work you can actually add to your portfolio.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Create Instagram, Facebook and short-form video content

• Shoot and edit Reels, Stories, photos and behind-the-scenes content

• Help develop The Sweet Spot’s social personality and brand

• Capture coffee, cocktail, frozen drink, food, event and community content for The Hive

• Help maintain a simple content calendar

• Brainstorm promotions, campaigns and trend-based content

• Track basic social engagement and campaign results

• Help promote special events and community programming

• Interact with customers and encourage user-generated content

• Work scheduled shifts serving customers at The Sweet Spot

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re less interested in a perfect résumé and more interested in someone who is creative, dependable and excited to make things.
 

Ideal candidates:

• Understand Instagram, TikTok and current social trends

• Have a good eye for photos and video

• Are comfortable using tools such as Canva and basic video editing apps

• Enjoy interacting with people

• Can work independently and take ownership of projects

• Are willing to experiment, learn and pitch new ideas
 

Marketing, Advertising, Communications, PR, Digital Media and related majors are encouraged to apply.
 

INTERNSHIP DETAILS

Location: The Hive + The Sweet Spot, 10542 Menchaca Rd., Austin, TX

Hours: Approximately 10–15 hours/week

Compensation: Paid

Schedule: Flexible around classes; combination of on-site and some remote marketing work

College Credit: We are happy to work with your school’s internship program when academic credit is available.
