About the Internship

As a Community Outreach Intern, you’ll help expand awareness of OhioRISE services while gaining hands-on experience in outreach strategy, communications, and community engagement. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, connect with community partners, and contribute to meaningful initiatives that improve access to behavioral health services.

This role is ideal for students interested in marketing, communications, social services, healthcare, or public relations who want real-world experience that makes a difference.

What You’ll Do

Community Outreach & Engagement

• Support initiatives that raise awareness of OhioRISE services across schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations
• Attend and participate in community meetings, networking events, and outreach activities
• Help identify underserved populations and explore ways to better connect them with services
• Build and strengthen relationships with community stakeholders and partners
• Assist in coordinating outreach efforts and maintaining partner communications

Communications & Marketing

• Create and support outreach materials (flyers, presentations, newsletters, social media content)
• Assist with digital engagement across social media platforms
• Track outreach efforts and engagement metrics to measure impact

Team & Organizational Support

• Collaborate with leadership on strategic outreach initiatives
• Participate in onboarding and training related to behavioral health and community engagement
• Support additional projects aligned with the mission of Choices and OhioRISE

What You Bring

Required

• Currently enrolled in a college or university program (Marketing, Communications, PR, Social Work, Human Services, Healthcare Administration, or similar)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to stay organized and manage multiple priorities
• Comfort working both independently and as part of a team
• Reliable transportation for community-based activities
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance (if driving for outreach events)

Preferred

• Experience with social media content creation or digital engagement
• Interest in behavioral health, healthcare, or nonprofit work
• Comfort with public speaking, presentations, or event participation

Technical Skills

• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Virtual meeting tools (Teams, Zoom, etc.)
• Familiarity with social media platforms
