The Fresno County Department of Social Services invites applications for the position of Job Specialist I. Incumbents assist social services clients to overcome barriers that affect employment readiness and self-sufficiency. This is accomplished through the use of case management methodologies and techniques including interviewing, determining employment and/or training needs, developing an employment case plan, and providing employment counseling and referral services.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must qualify under one (1) of the options listed below:
OPTION 1:
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree that is acceptable within the United States’ accredited college or university system.
OPTION 2:
Education: Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States’ accredited college or university system.
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time, paid work experience as an Eligibility Worker with the County of Fresno.
OPTION 3:
Education: Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States’ accredited college or university system.
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time, paid work experience performing case management in a human services setting, providing educational counseling, and/or providing employment counseling.
In addition to the options listed above, the following is also required:
License: Possession of a valid Class “C” driver’s license, or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, candidates are required to undergo and pass a background investigation. These investigations include employment/credit histories, verification of education, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, and personal conduct.
