Early Childhood Center Director

 

Job Description

Title:   Early Childhood Development Center Director

Program: Head Start

FLSA:  Exempt

Supervisor: EHS/Head Start Director

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.  They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.

 

SUMMARY:

Directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and operation of the assigned Early Childhood Development Center (and if applicable, assigned satellite sites).

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Ensures proper operation and maintenance of the center to comply with all

State and Federal Licensing Regulations including MWNMCAP and State Agency standards for the safety, health, and educational well-being of the children, families, and adults who utilize and/or work at the center.

  1. Ensure implementation and adherence of all regulatory statutes for programs housed at the Center (and if applicable, satellites) including Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  2. Manages the center's administrative functions which include complying and implementing all MWNMCAP Policies and Procedures and directives/requests by the EHS/Head Start Director.
  3. Responsible for providing performance feedback on the Child Development Coach, Health Specialist, Family Advocate and Specialist in matrix management with manager and coordinator in these departments. 
  4. As a matrix manager, provides manager imputes into professional development, monthly monitoring and yearly appraisals. 
  5. Responsible for arranging and conducting monthly staff meetings and in-service training.
  6. Responsible for attending all required meetings and disseminating all pertinent information to appropriate staff.
  7. Ensure that accurate records are maintained, including student records, staff records, financial records, parent-involvement records, daily attendance records, meal count records, in-kind contributions and all others as required.
  8. Responsible for enrollment in all early childhood development programs.
  9. Responsible for the ongoing recruitment of children.
  10. Responsiblefor deeming children eligible for all early childhood development programs.

 

  1. Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.

 

  1. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
    • Citizen of the United States or have legal papers to work in the United States.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 21 years of age orolder.
  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in working with pre-school children and families. 
  • Must meet childcare licensing requirements for a Director. 
  • Submit to an FBI Criminal Record Investigation and Fingerprinting, as required by Federal and State law.
  • Submit to and pass an Agency required Health Screening.
  • Have a valid State of New Mexico Driver's License.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from internal/external customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, Head Start Policy Council and/or Grantee Board.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity, maturity and good judgment to function in crisis situations.
  • Ability to seek supervision and use it constructively.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Work is typically performed in an office environment.
  • Ability to lift 30pounds.
