Engineering Intern
About Us
Tuskes Homes is a fourth generation, family owned homebuilder that has been building throughout the Lehigh Valley and Northeastern Pennsylvania since 1969. Four generations in, we are still family run, and that shows up in how we build and how we treat the people who buy from us. Our teams are small, which means our interns work on real projects that get built.
What You'll Do
- Assist with the design and analysis of site plans, grading, drainage, and utility plans for residential projects
- Use AutoCAD and other engineering software to create drawings and project documentation
- Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions, collect data, and contribute to feasibility studies
- Work alongside project managers and site superintendents to resolve engineering issues during construction
- Collaborate with our engineering, construction, and sales teams to keep projects compliant with local regulations, zoning codes, industry standards, and customer selections
- Help prepare permit applications and coordinate with regulatory agencies
- Support the development of cost estimates and budgets for the civil engineering side of our projects
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate engineering program. Civil is the most direct fit, but we've had success with students from other engineering disciplines who are interested in land development and residential construction.
- Strong academic performance and coursework that connects to site design, grading and drainage, or land development
- Experience in AutoCAD and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Detail oriented and organized, with the ability to manage several projects at once
- Clear communicator who works well independently and on a team
- Eager to apply engineering principles to real projects rather than coursework
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits
- Willing to be on active job sites in summer weather
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with GIS, Civil 3D, or basic surveying principles
- Interest in land development or residential construction
This role is fully on site at our office located at 4511 Falmer Drive Bethlehem, PA 18020, five days a week, with travel to our communities and active job sites. Occasional remote work may be approved on a case by case basis. Candidates must be able to commute to the Lehigh Valley on their own. Relocation and housing assistance are not provided.
