Interior Design Intern

Pickering Associates is seeking an interior design intern.  This internship offers hands-on experience in concept development, space planning, and project execution, combining creative design work with practical industry skills under professional supervision. 

This role supports senior designers through tasks such as creating mood boards, drafting floor plans and elevations in CAD and 3D software, sourcing materials and furnishings, preparing client presentations, and coordinating with vendors and contractors. Our intern will gain exposure to the full design process—from initial concept to final installation—while learning industry standards, client communication, and project management workflow.  

We are a multi-disciplined firm so this intern will coordinate and collaborate with Architects, Engineers and differing project teams.

This role will be based in Fairmont, West Virginia beginning in early 2027 and with the potential to extend throughout the summer and beyond.
