Associate Data Engineer 2027 – AI & Analytics

Location: Lansing, Michigan

As an Associate Data Engineer, you will work alongside experienced IBM professionals to help clients transform data into actionable insights, improve decision-making, automate business processes, and accelerate innovation.

You will gain hands-on experience with data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, artificial intelligence, and cloud-based technologies while developing the consulting and professional skills needed to succeed in a client-facing environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Help collect, organize, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources.
  • Support the development of data pipelines, databases, analytical solutions, and cloud-based data environments.
  • Use programming languages and technologies such as Python, SQL, Java, or similar tools.
  • Assist with data analysis, business intelligence, automation, artificial intelligence, and machine-learning initiatives.
  • Help identify data-quality issues and recommend practical improvements.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements and data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate findings clearly to colleagues and clients.
  • Continuously build your technical and consulting expertise through training, mentorship, and project experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree completed before the position’s 2027 start date in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of programming languages such as Python, SQL, Java, or similar technologies.
  • Exposure to data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, artificial intelligence, databases, or cloud-based data projects through coursework, labs, internships, research, or personal projects.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new technologies, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Currently located in, or willing to relocate to, Lansing or elsewhere in Michigan based on business needs.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.
