Associate Cybersecurity Specialist – 2027

Location: Lansing, Michigan

Launch your cybersecurity career with IBM Consulting at the Lansing FutureNow Center. As an Associate Cybersecurity Specialist, you will work alongside experienced IBM professionals to help clients protect critical systems, data, and business operations from evolving security threats.

In this role, you will gain hands-on experience supporting real client engagements while developing technical, consulting, communication, and collaboration skills.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze cybersecurity requirements and help document security processes.
  • Support cybersecurity assessments, risk analysis, and control evaluations.
  • Help identify vulnerabilities and recommend practical security improvements.
  • Contribute to work involving identity and access management, cloud security, data protection, threat management, governance, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve technical and business challenges.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to colleagues and clients.
  • Continuously build your cybersecurity and consulting expertise through training, mentorship, and project experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree completed before the position’s 2027 start date in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts, risks, controls, and security best practices.
  • Cybersecurity, technical, or analytical experience gained through coursework, labs, projects, research, internships, or cyber competitions.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new technologies, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Currently located in, or willing to relocate to, Lansing or elsewhere in Michigan based on business needs.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.
