2027 Technology Specialist Summer Intern (Engineering)

Wolf Greenfield is currently accepting Technology Specialist Intern applications for our 2027 Summer Program in our Boston and New York offices supporting our Electric & Computer Technologies or Mechanical Technologies groups.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Reviewing technical disclosures and participating in client interviews to understand new inventions
  • Searching literature and patent databases to determine the patentability of inventions
  • Assisting in drafting sections of patent applications under the supervision of experienced practitioners
  • Assisting in preparing responses to communications from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • Assisting with developing arguments for patentability to Patent Office Examiners
  • Assisting in reviewing patents as part of the IP due diligence
  • Assisting in reviewing and interpreting contracts

 

What to expect:

  • Hands-on involvement of supervisors throughout each project, building skills through direct feedback and revision
  • Collaboration with practitioners across experience levels
  • Fixed deadlines set by the Patent Office, with several matters in progress at once
  • Exposure to a range of unfamiliar technologies over the course of the summer
  • Instruction in patent law and procedure; no prior legal background is required

 

Who you are:

  • A current student (class of 2028) or recent graduate with a degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, bioinformatics, or mechanical engineering
  • Interested in exploring IP and Patent Law through a 10-week summer program
  • Someone with sound judgment, maturity, strong work ethic, inquisitive nature, and the ability to juggle multiple job responsibilities

 

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. The 2027 Summer Program will run from Monday, May 17, 2027 - Friday, July 23, 2027.
