Theater Production Assistant

Hours: up to 75 hour; Fridays 4:15 p.m.-6:15 p.m., Saturdays 8:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Salary: $14.7100/hr 
Location: Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods

Dates: October 2-November 14, 2026

The Young Actors Theatre (YAT) program is a drama program for ages 7-15 in which young people build skills in singing, acting, and dancing in order to put on a one-act play.

Program and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Supports a YAT play by providing support in props, assistant stage management, and other production roles
  • Assists in the supervision of participants during rehearsals
  • Responsible for room preparation, set-up, and clean up
  • Contributes to an organized and positive rehearsal environment
  • Prepares for and attends production meetings as assigned.
  • Evening availability required for technical rehearsals: Monday, November 9-Friday, November 13, 4:15 p.m.-7:15 p.m.
  • Participates fully in performance date and in complete production strike. Saturday, November 14, 8:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Minimum Employment Standards

  • Age 16
  • Must be available for the full term of the contract

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience/knowledge in the performing arts
  • Knowledge of backstage roles in theater
  • Experience working with youth
  • Must be collaborative, dedicated, reliable, patient, and mature

  • Criminal history record check, including fingerprinting. Results must be received prior to hire date.
