Vira Regen - Financial Analysis, Forecasting Model, and Investment Strategy

Company Overview

Vira Regen is a Salt Lake City–based regenerative medicine company developing noninvasive bioelectronic medicines through electrogenetics, a new class of therapy that uses precisely engineered electrical signals to modulate gene expression on demand and drive tissue regeneration. Rather than applying the broad, undifferentiated fields used by conventional stimulation devices, our platform combines bioelectric stimulation with computational biology and machine learning to identify the signal patterns that activate specific gene cascades. Our lead program, OsteoVolt™, is a noninvasive device for accelerating the healing of fresh and nonunion fractures that showed roughly 50% faster healing in preclinical models and is advancing along an FDA Class II 510(k) pathway, with a pipeline extending to knee osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, cancer electrotherapy, and human performance and longevity. We are a preclinical-stage company that has raised $2 million in non-dilutive funding through the DoW-MTEC consortium and is currently completing a pre-seed round while preparing for institutional financing.

Project Description

Students on this project will build the financial infrastructure Vira Regen needs to raise capital through commercialization. The team will develop an integrated operating and forecasting model that ties bottom-up operating expenses, R&D program costs, headcount plans, and regulatory and clinical milestones to a revenue forecast for each pipeline indication, along with scenario and sensitivity analysis showing how outcomes shift under different adoption, pricing, reimbursement, and timeline assumptions. In parallel, the team will construct a capital strategy: a cap table and dilution model spanning the ongoing pre-seed and future seed, Series A, B, and C rounds; a milestone-to-round map that identifies the value inflection points each raise should fund; a comparables analysis of financing terms, valuations, and exits among bioelectronic medicine, orthopedic device, and regenerative medicine companies; and a map of non-dilutive funding sources including SBIR/STTR, Department of Defense and MTEC opportunities, and state and foundation grants. Students are encouraged to use AI tools for comparables research, document drafting, and model auditing. Deliverables are a documented financial model, a written fundraising plan, and an investor-ready narrative with supporting materials that Vira Regen can take directly into conversations with investors.
