WDW

Paraplanner

Location: Richardson, TX | In-person

About Our Firm

WDW Financial is a planning-focused wealth management firm with deep roots in the Richardson, TX community, serving individuals and families across generations. We provide comprehensive financial planning and investment management, guiding clients through retirement, tax strategy, estate planning, and long-term wealth decisions.

Position Overview & Career Path

This is an entry-level role designed for someone with a genuine interest in growing into a financial advisor. The Planning Associate supports advisors across two connected areas: hands-on client service (account paperwork, cash movement, policy servicing) and foundational financial planning analysis. Working closely on client service from day one gives you an early, genuine window into our client base. You'll get to know their accounts, their questions, and their lives well before you're in the room presenting a plan, which builds the relationship foundation an advisor needs. From there, you'll take on increasing planning responsibility (case preparation, analysis, and eventually client meeting participation) as you demonstrate readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Client Service & Account Operations

  • Process cash movement requests (deposits, withdrawals, distributions) accurately and on schedule
  • Prepare and submit account opening, transfer, and account maintenance paperwork, reviewed for accuracy and completeness before submission
  • Service existing insurance policies (life, LTC, annuities): beneficiary changes, address updates, premium and billing questions
  • Coordinate with custodians and carriers to resolve service issues and troubleshoot discrepancies
  • Respond to routine client emails and calls promptly and professionally
  • Maintain accurate client records in the CRM and planning software

Financial Planning & Meeting Support

  • Support plan-building through data gathering: collecting client statements, entering values into planning software, and organizing documents ahead of plan builds
  • Assist with entry-level planning tasks under supervision, including basic cash flow worksheets and simple planning scenarios
  • Pull in-force insurance policy data and coverage details to support insurance needs analysis, for review by a Paraplanner or advisor
  • Prepare meeting materials as needed and assist with post-meeting follow-up items

Qualifications

  • A genuine, stated interest in becoming a financial advisor is the most important qualification
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Financial Planning, Finance, Accounting, or related field a plus
  • 0–2 years of experience in financial services preferred; entry-level candidates with the right mindset are welcome to apply
  • CFP® coursework in progress or a willingness to begin it within the first year
  • Comfortable learning new software quickly; experience with eMoney, Salesforce, Holistiplan, or similar tools is a plus, not a requirement
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through, since this role touches real client money and paperwork
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced team environment
  • Discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive client financial and personal information

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $65,000 - 85,000, based on experience and qualifications
  • 401(k) with 10% employer contribution
  • Health insurance (100% of employee premium paid by the firm)
  • Employer-paid long-term disability insurance
  • Generous paid time off and paid federal holidays as stated in the employee handbook
  • Professional development support, including certifications, designations, licensing, and continued education
  • Investment advisory fee waiver for immediate household and discounted fees for extended family
  • Matching charitable contributions ($1,000 annually, with additional support based on involvement)
  • Covered parking, building fitness center access, and occasional team lunches
