The Opportunity
Copeland is seeking talented Mechanical Engineering students for our Spring and Summer 2027 internship programs. Potential Project Areas
Depending on business needs and your background, internship assignments may include:
Product & Design Engineering
Assist with the design, development, and testing of HVACR products and components
Support prototype builds and engineering evaluations
Create and modify CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation
Analyze product performance data and identify opportunities for improvement
Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
Support manufacturing process improvements and automation initiatives
Participate in continuous improvement and Lean projects
Assist with equipment implementation, process validation, and plant optimization
Analyze operational data to improve productivity and quality
Project Engineering & New Product Development
Support cross-functional engineering projects from concept through implementation
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams
Conduct testing, data collection, and technical analysis
Assist with project planning, documentation, and reporting
Compliance & Regulatory Engineering
Support product compliance activities related to industry regulations and standards
Assist with audits, documentation reviews, and technical investigations
Participate in evaluating product designs against regulatory requirements
Help maintain testing records and compliance documentation
What You'll Do
Apply classroom knowledge to real engineering challenges
Assist with research, testing, analysis, and problem-solving activities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the business
Present findings and recommendations to engineering leaders
Support projects that improve products, manufacturing processes, or customer outcomes
Gain hands-on experience in engineering, manufacturing, and laboratory environments

Minimum Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in:
Mechanical Engineering
Manufacturing Engineering
Industrial Engineering
Mechanical Engineering Technology
Aerospace Engineering
Electromechanical Engineering
Or a related engineering discipline
Ability to work during the Spring 2027 and/or Summer 2027 internship terms
Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience through engineering projects, student organizations, research, internships, or co-ops
Exposure to one or more of the following:
CAD and 3D modeling
Manufacturing processes
Design Engineering
Data analysis
Lean Manufacturing
Continuous Improvement
Quality systems
Testing and validation
Expected graduation between December 2027 and May 2028
