Coding/STEM Instructor For Afterschool Program

AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM – CODING/STEM INSTRUCTOR
Program: CASW Afterschool Program
School: Dos Puentes Elementary School
Location: 185 Wadsworth Ave, New York, NY 10033
Schedule: Part Time, 8-6 hours a week between 2pm-6pm, for the duration of the school year, with the possibility of
seasonal work with CASW Summer Camps.
Compensation: $40–$45/hour, commensurate with experience

Position Purpose
CASW is seeking an engaging Coding/STEM Instructor to lead fun, hands-on STEM workshops for elementary school
students. Instructors may teach one or more areas including coding, robotics, engineering, science, and video game
design. The role focuses on project-based learning that encourages creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving,
collaboration, and exploration.

Duties & Responsibilities
● Lead engaging, hands-on STEM classes for elementary school students
● Implement and assist with the development of STEM curriculum and lesson plans
● Adapt activities to different ages, skill levels, and learning styles
● Prepare and request supplies and materials in advance of classes
● Provide guidance and direction to program staff, as assigned
● Maintain an organized, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
● Communicate with the Program Director regarding student participation, progress, and program needs
● Plan and participate in culminating projects, showcases, or events

Qualifications
● Minimum of 60 college credits; degree preferred
● Experience or expertise in coding, robotics, engineering, science, video game design, or a related STEM field
● Experience working with elementary or school-age children
● Patient, kind, friendly, creative, and enthusiastic
● Strong communication and organizational skills
● Ability to create fun, age-appropriate, and engaging STEM experiences
● Reliable, punctual, and professional
