Civil Engineering Intern
Wier & Associates, Inc. - Paid Internship
Wier & Associates, Inc. has internship opportunities available year-round. Candidates must be a student actively pursuing a civil engineering degree from an accredited university degree program with interest in land development or municipal infrastructure design; preferably a Sophomore or Junior. Candidates must possess a valid driver license and have a good driving record. AutoCAD or Civil 3D experience is a plus.
Interns will work under one of our experienced Team Leaders to receive direct guidance, training, and real world application of what is being taught in their classes. As interns progress through their internship, they will be given an opportunity to work on actual projects including private development and municipalities, as well as learn the step-by-step process of how projects are transitioned from conception to completion.

First Week
An intern's first week will begin with a tour around our office and a chance to meet many of the faces that will be working together over their time with Wier & Associates, Inc. Afterwards, they will be given a chance to familiarize themselves with our Employee Handbook and our various computer systems and guidelines. Once interns have completed this and our onboarding and introduction/CADD training, they can expect to be given assignments and hands-on training from both their Team Leader and their fellow co-workers.
Intern Schedule
At Wier & Associates, Inc., we understand and emphasize to interns that school is very important. Due to this, we aim to maintain flexible work schedules for those who need it. We offer both part-time and full-time positions to potential interns so that they can create a healthy work/school balance to both earn their degree and develop real world experience in their field. We ask that interns remain open about their availability with their Team Leader to allow easier planning and scheduling.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain an open line of communication with their respective Team Leaders
- Work from sketches, notes, and other input material to produce accurate, quality CADD drawings with some guidance and direction
- Organize layout and coordinate drafted documents
- Understand and follow the company's standard CADD procedures for sheet layout
- May include minimal design calculations, checking computations and reviewing drawings for quality assurance purposes
- Be open to learning new skills and receiving new responsibilities
