Construction Materials Intern
KAKS & Company is a fast growing construction inspection and material testing company looking for a Summer Intern and/or co-op to add to our team immediately (flexible) for projects in the Philadelphia metro area. We have been in business for over 16 years and worked on many large projects for State, SEPTA, the City of Philadelphia, PennDOT and many private commercial clients. Job Description:
- Assisting in tasks required carry out critical business operations: Sample pick-ups, drop-offs (sample pick-ups, drop offs, etc).
- Work in the lab testing soil and concrete - Harleysville, PA
- Working in the field at construction sites as a Field Technician and Inspector inspecting construction work and performing construction materials testing - Greater Philadelphia Area
- Ability to read drawings and specifications, communicate and coordinate with the engineers, contractors, and clients
- Perform soil compaction tests using a density gauge
- Test concrete for slump, air content and temperature and cast specimens
- Monitoring one or more of the following for compliance with the drawings and specifications: reinforced concrete, masonry, fire proofing, asphalt, soils and/or foundation construction
- Write quality, detailed field reports
Job Requirements:
- You must have a valid driver’s license and provide your own transportation to and from field sites
- Ability to work independently
- Pursuing a BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering is preferred
