Teacher Residency in Chattanooga

Want to use your skills to make a real impact? The PEF Teacher Residency prepares aspiring educators to teach while earning licensure and a master’s degree through a year-long, mentored classroom experience.

Position Description

The PEF Teacher Residency is a full-year, in-school experience designed to prepare you to become a high-impact teacher in any of the following pathways:

  • Secondary Math 
  • Secondary Sciences (Biology or Chemistry)
  • Exceptional Education
  • Elementary
  • Secondary English

Residents work alongside an experienced mentor teacher while completing graduate coursework toward licensure and a master’s degree. Throughout the year, you’ll receive weekly coaching, practice real teaching, and build the skills needed to lead your own classroom.

This program is intentionally designed for candidates who did not major in education.

Commitment

Residents commit to teaching for four years in partner schools following program completion.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Eligibility for Tennessee teacher licensure
  • Commitment to teaching in high-needs schools
