Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet is seeking part-time Field Fellows for her campaign for Congress in MI-08 (Genesee, Bay, Saginaw, and Midland Counties) to work with our coalition and engage voters across the district. A strong candidate for this role has  a high energy level, passion for voter engagement, and drive for achieving goals. Hiring on a rolling basis, and compensation is $15/hour, with an ideal commitment in the range of 20-35 hours per week. Applicants must have a car and be willing to drive around the District as needed.


 

Responsibilities

  • Working with Kristen for Michigan field staff and volunteers towards voter outreach goals 
  • Canvassing areas as assigned and collecting quality data on interactions with voters
  • Phone banking, text banking, and absentee ballot chase activities as assigned 
  • Attending community events/tabling in the district as assigned 
  • Assisting assigned field organizer with training volunteers on how to use MiniVAN, textbank programming, and phonebank programming
  • Assisting assigned field organizer with training volunteers on best practices when engaging with voters, and educating volunteers on what our coalition stands for 
  • Other duties as assigned


 

Qualifications

  • Desire to do the groundwork to win a highly competitive race 
  • Strong communication written and verbal skills
  • Organization and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new needs and priorities at anytime 
  • Ability to maintain an upbeat and positive attitude 
  • Live within the MI-08 Congressional District 
  • Some level of experience with volunteering or working on previous campaigns helpful but not necessary 
  • Knowledge of Votebuilder, MiniVAN, and Mobilize is beneficial but not required 
  • Basic knowledge of Google Suite of applications 
  • Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence - the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways 
  • Access to a car, driver’s license, phone, and laptop
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
