Support Companion & Direct Care
$22.77 an hour.
Location: Foggy Bottom, Washington, D.C.
Seeking an outgoing, dependable, and motivated Support Companion to assist an adult male university student with physical disabilities. In this role, you will act as both a practical aide and a campus companion, helping him fully engage in classes, extracurricular activities, and vibrant campus life in Washington, DC. This is an excellent, resume-building opportunity for students or young professionals pursuing careers in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Pre-Med, Public Health, or Special Education.
Responsibilities
- Support Companion: Accompany the student to university classes, campus extracurriculars, and social events.
- Navigation & Transit: Assist with campus navigation, commuting, and local transportation around the Foggy Bottom/DC area.
- Daily Living Support: Assist with errands, adherence to schedule, appointments, and maintaining daily care routines.
- Social Engagement: Provide friendly, engaging, and dignified support to promote an inclusive college experience.
Requirements
Age: Must be 18 years or older.
Traits: Reliable, outgoing, friendly, with excellent communication skills.
Background: Must be willing to undergo and pass a background check.
Experience: Prior experience in caregiving or disability support is a plus, but a great attitude and dependability are most important.
