Spring 2027 - Communications, Public Relations & Web/Social Media Academic Credit Internship

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Alfa Art Gallery’s mission is to support both emerging and established artists by providing meaningful exposure, professional guidance, and opportunities to cultivate a strong critical following within the art community. The gallery serves as a cultural catalyst, promoting artistic growth, interdisciplinary dialogue, and active public engagement.

Alfa Art Gallery is seeking a motivated intern to support both Communications/Public Relations and Web & Social Media initiatives. This academic‑credit internship is ideal for students interested in marketing, communications, arts administration, digital media, and community engagement. The intern will play a key role in shaping the gallery’s public image, strengthening community relationships, and enhancing online visibility.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen institutional visibility and support community outreach efforts.
  • Assist in developing marketing plans to better reach audiences and promote gallery programs and events.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local media outlets.
  • Manage the distribution of printed and electronic promotional materials.
  • Oversee and grow the gallery’s social media presence across platforms.
  • Support the gallery’s social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, and Tumblr.
  • Prepare and submit grant applications; research additional funding opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain Alfa’s blog.
  • Maintain positive relationships with patrons, artists, and partner organizations.
  • Support general communications, PR initiatives, and digital content creation.
  • Promote the gallery’s facilities rental program.

Requirements

  • Strong writing, editing, research, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy and experience using multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with WordPress or other CMS platforms is a plus; knowledge of HTML and CSS is helpful.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is useful.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and handle multiple tasks.
