Academic Interventionist

The Southwest Region School District (SWRSD) Migrant Education Program is seeking an Academic Interventionist to provide targeted academic support to elementary migrant students in rural Alaska.

The Academic Interventionist works primarily with small groups of approximately 4–6 students, providing focused reading and literacy intervention using a Response to Intervention (RTI) approach. This position is designed to give students additional individualized support while working collaboratively with classroom teachers and school staff.

This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who wants hands-on experience working with students in small groups while experiencing life and education in rural Alaska.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide targeted academic intervention to migrant-eligible students in grades K–5
• Work with students individually and in small groups of approximately 4–6 students
• Provide literacy and reading intervention based on identified student needs
• Use mCLASS/Amplify assessment data and other available student data to help identify areas of need and monitor student growth
• Utilize RTI strategies and evidence-based instructional practices
• Provide both small-group intervention and classroom push-in support as appropriate
• Prioritize students identified as having the greatest academic need
• Maintain documentation of students served, intervention time, services provided, and student progress
• Communicate regularly with classroom teachers, school administration, and the Migrant Education Coordinator
• Participate in required orientation, professional development, and program meetings
• Build positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and the local community
• Support the overall academic goals of the SWRSD Migrant Education Program
