The Senior Dental Informatics Business Intelligence Analyst plays a pivotal role in advancing the dental school's data-driven culture across its clinical operations, educational programs, research enterprise, and administrative functions.
This individual collaborates with leadership, faculty, researchers, administrative units, and the informatics team to translate complex questions into clear, actionable insights. The role requires deep technical skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to bring structure and maturity to analytics workflows, documentation, cataloging, and training practices.
Candidates should excel at making data understandable and useful for diverse audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions supporting clinical care, educational outcomes, research operations, and administrative planning and apply statistical, qualitative analysis techniques to derive insights from complex datasets.
- Build high-quality, intuitive dashboards and visualization products using tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Identify areas where automation, improved data modeling, or AI augmentation can enhance reporting and workflow efficiency. Standardize metrics, definitions, and data models to ensure consistent reporting across the school.
- Work closely with clinical providers, academic leaders, researchers, and administrative teams to understand operational needs and strategic goals and serve as the link between operational stakeholders and the technical informatics/data engineering teams.
- Facilitate requirements gathering, data mapping, iterative solution reviews, and user acceptance testing.
- Provide training and documentation to ensure successful adoption of new reports and analytics tools.
- Lead efforts to improve institutional practices in data
- Develop and promote standardized testing, validation, and release processes.
- Create and deliver ongoing training programs to increase analytics literacy across the school.
- Manage analytics initiatives from conception through deployment, including scoping, requirements definition, development oversight, testing, and rollout and ensure all analytics projects comply with data governance, HIPAA, IRB and university policies.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong ability to present complex analytical results in simple, actionable terms for non-technical audiences.
- Experience improving organizational maturity in data cataloging, documentation, testing, and training.
- Proven ability to manage projects and deliver results in complex environments while working effectively with diverse stakeholders and disciplines.
- Demonstrated expertise with Power BI or Tableau or similar toolset, SQL (advanced querying and optimization), data modeling and ETL concepts, Statistical methods and analytical methodologies.
