Overnight Summer Camp Trip Leader
If you enjoy camping, want to work with kids, and are looking to spend the summer as a part of an incredible community in northern Wisconsin, this role is for you!
We are looking to hire a Wilderness Trip Leader to join our staff for the 2027 summer season. At Chippewa, we run one- and two-night camping trip. These trips range from beaches to hiking to canoeing to sea-kayaking to rock climbing. Responsibilities for this role include helping to plan the trips, guiding the campers and counselors through each trip, and ensuring a fun and safe experience for all. This will require high energy, initiative, a safety-focused mindset, and direct communication with campers and other staff members. This role is ideal for a candidate with an interest in camping, being outdoors, and youth development. Trip leaders should have experience camping themselves. Having led trips in the past is great prior experience.
Essential skills for this role include safety-mindedness, organization, flexibility, teamwork, initiative, patience, problem solving and communication.
Compensation includes a competitive salary, room, board and a travel stipend. Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and Lifeguard certifications will be provided if you do not already have them.
Dates: May 18 - August 5, 2027
**Start date may vary slightly based on WFR course schedule. It will be later if applicant already has their WFR.
