Civil Engineer I/II

Description

Performs professional work involved in the design, construction, inspection and maintenance of a variety of public works and utility facilities, and related work as required.  Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Engineering Project Manager.  Limited supervision may be exercised over temporary employees.
 

Essential Functions

• Overseeing and participating in the design of streets, utilities, storm water and other City facilities.
• Develops project manuals and plans for projects designed in-house.
• Receiving and responding to engineering questions and problems presented by the general public; responds to questions from and provides information to regulators.
• Provides engineering solutions to questions presented by associates and elected officials.
• Administers special project budgets.
• Administers the City's storm water program; develops annual storm water reports.
• Oversees and participates in construction inspection activities performed by outside contractors; acts as project manager on various projects.
• Administers and/or supervises the administration of contracts for the City.
• Produces engineering and/or architectural plans using AutoCAD.
• Develops and reviews engineering and compliance reports.
• Performs related tasks as required.
