Description:

***Hybrid – onsite 3 days/week

 

We are seeking an experienced PowerBuilder / .NET Developer to support critical business and financial applications. This role will primarily focus on system administration, maintenance, and enhancements for core legacy systems built in PowerBuilder, alongside application support and integration with .NET environments.

 

The ideal candidate thrives in both independent and collaborative settings, communicates effectively with technical and business stakeholders, and demonstrates strong problem-solving skills when translating requirements into robust software solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex system administration, maintenance, and production support for core business applications.
  • Design, develop, modify, test, debug, and implement software enhancements across PowerBuilder and .NET platforms.
  • Translate functional and business requirements into effective database queries, schemas, and program solutions.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and respond to system alerts, defects, and user support events; document findings and recommend lasting fixes.
  • Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, architecture notes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Adhere strictly to established software development life cycle (SDLC) policies, coding standards, and formal code review practices.
  • Provide thorough technical knowledge transfers and handover documentation to internal staff.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong, proven hands-on software development experience with PowerBuilder.
  • Solid development and maintenance experience utilizing the .NET Framework / C#.
  • Proficiency with relational database design, complex SQL queries, and database optimization.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and maintain legacy enterprise applications while supporting modernized systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience writing clear technical specifications and operating procedures.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid – 3 days on-site per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
