Contracts & Purchasing Services Division Student Intern

County of Sacramento, Department of General Services

The Contracts & Purchasing Services Division (CAPSD) Student Intern will gain hands-on experience in public procurement and contracting while supporting the development of a new County-wide procurement training program. The intern will learn how the County purchases goods and services, conducts solicitations and bids, awards and manages contracts, and supports departments throughout the procurement process.

 

A key focus of this internship will be helping CAPSD design and build engaging training and educational materials for County employees. The ideal candidate is creative, comfortable with technology, and has experience using Canva and other digital content, presentation, or design platforms. Projects may include developing training presentations, quick-reference guides, visual job aids, process guides, web-based content, and other tools that make procurement processes easier to understand and use.

 

This position provides an opportunity to work with procurement professionals and interact with departments throughout Sacramento County while gaining practical experience in government contracting, training development, digital communications, and program implementation.

 

We are especially interested in students who are strong in Canva, visual communication, digital content creation, and turning complex information into clear, professional, easy-to-use materials.

Candidates must be able to work 15-25 hours per week and hold full-time student status (12 units) as a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate. Candidates working towards a degree with a concentration in business, finance, or public administration are desired. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

 

The selected candidate must provide proof of student status before beginning work. U.S. citizenship or an authorized INS work permit is required.
