Position Overview We are seeking dedicated, compassionate students for a Healthcare Care Assistant Internship. This position offers direct patient care experience designed to satisfy university internship course requirements, fulfill degree credits, and build verifiable direct patient-contact hours required for pre-health and graduate programs (e.g., Nursing, PA, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Pre-Med).
Key Responsibilities
Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs), including mobility assistance, personal care, and nutrition support.
Observe, measure, and accurately log resident vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature) under the supervision of licensed clinical staff.
Shadow registered nurses and care managers during care planning meetings and routine clinical assessments.
Complete daily documentation of care activities, health observations, and resident engagement following facility procedures and HIPAA regulations.
Support cognitive and physical wellness initiatives by assisting with therapeutic social and recreational activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Active enrollment in an accredited healthcare-related degree program (Nursing, Pre-Med, Health Sciences, Kinesiology, Public Health, or related discipline).
Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a interest in geriatric care.
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).
Successful completion of required background checks and health screenings (TB test, immunization verification).
Ability to maintain confidentiality and strictly adhere to medical privacy standards.
