IT Specialist
An IT Specialist provides technical support, maintains computer systems and networks, manages hardware and software, and helps ensure that an organization’s technology operates securely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to employees and troubleshoot IT issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain computers, software, printers, and other equipment.
- Manage user accounts, passwords, permissions, and system access.
- Troubleshoot network, Wi-Fi, VPN, email, and connectivity problems.
- Monitor system performance and identify technical issues.
- Perform software updates, patches, backups, and routine maintenance.
- Assist with cybersecurity procedures and protect company systems and data.
- Maintain IT documentation, equipment inventories, and support records.
- Respond to help-desk tickets and resolve technical problems.
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or outside vendors.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding employees.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor's degree in IT is often preferred.
- Experience in IT support, help desk, networking, or systems administration.
- Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365, basic networking, and computer hardware.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
