PART-TIME LEGO ROBOTICS INSTRUCTOR

Location: 3550 64th Ave., Oakland, CA 94605
Start Date: September 23, 2026
Pay: $25–$35/hour, based on experience

About the Role

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic LEGO Robotics Instructor to lead an engaging after-school enrichment program for young learners.

Students will explore robotics through hands-on LEGO building activities, learning how to construct simple machines, experiment with movement, and bring their creations to life. The program encourages creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and early STEM skills.

This role isn't about building perfect robots. It's about helping young learners explore, experiment, build, and discover what they can create.

You do not need to be a professional engineer or traditional classroom teacher to apply. If you enjoy LEGO, robotics, STEM, or hands-on building and love working with young children, we'd love to hear from you. Curriculum guidance and instructional materials are provided.

What You'll Do

  • Lead engaging, hands-on LEGO Robotics activities for young learners
  • Guide students as they build simple LEGO machines and robotic creations
  • Introduce basic concepts of building, movement, and cause-and-effect
  • Demonstrate building techniques and explain activities in a simple, age-appropriate way
  • Encourage students to explore different ways to build and solve problems
  • Help students test, modify, and improve their creations
  • Encourage creativity and independent thinking
  • Support students who need additional guidance during building activities
  • Keep students engaged and excited throughout each session
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Encourage teamwork, sharing, and collaboration
  • Adapt activities to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
  • Help students safely handle LEGO pieces and classroom materials
  • Follow the provided curriculum and instructional materials
  • Communicate professionally with school staff and the Whizara team

Qualifications

You don't need extensive teaching experience to be successful in this role. We're looking for someone who enjoys building, experimenting, and working with young children.

  • Familiarity with LEGO, robotics, STEM, engineering, or hands-on building
  • Comfortable guiding young learners through simple building activities
  • Patient, energetic, and encouraging when working with children
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Creative and willing to experiment with different approaches
  • Reliable and professional
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required
