Reports To: Department Head 

 

Status: Exempt, 12-month Residential 

 

Position Summary 

The Hill School welcomes inquiries and applications from talented professionals who may be interested in future faculty opportunities outside of the traditional classroom setting. While there may not be an immediate vacancy in a specific area, we are continually seeking mission-driven individuals who are committed to student development, educational excellence, and the vibrant life of an independent boarding school. 

Successful candidates will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive community, and a desire to engage fully in student life. Faculty members serving in 12-month positions contribute significantly to the student experience through advising, co-curricular involvement, residential life responsibilities, and other areas of student support and school operations. Depending on the needs of the School and the individual's background and expertise, opportunities to teach or co-teach a course may occasionally be available. 

Responsibilities and Qualifications  

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 

Supporting the School's mission through leadership, student engagement, and operational excellence within an assigned department or functional area.  

Serving as an adviser and mentor to a small group of students.  

Building meaningful relationships with students and supporting their academic, personal, and social development.  

Communicating regularly with students, families, faculty, and staff as appropriate.  

Writing student comments, recommendations, and other reports as required.  

Participating in professional development opportunities and remaining current in best practices relevant to the position.  

Supporting two co-curricular activities, such as athletics, clubs, performing arts, community engagement programs, or other student activities.  

Participating in residential life responsibilities, including evening and weekend duties.  

Serving on school committees and contributing to the broader life of the School.  

Collaborating with colleagues across departments to enhance the student experience.  

Teaching or co-teaching a course when appropriate and aligned with institutional needs and individual qualifications.  

 Performing other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.  

Experience in education, student services, counseling, administration, athletics, residential life, or a related field preferred.  

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.  

Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.  

Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive student experience.  

Interest in participating fully in the academic, co-curricular, and residential programs of a boarding school. 

Employment Timing: These positions are intended to support anticipated future hiring needs. Specific opportunities, departments, responsibilities, and start dates will vary based on institutional needs.
