Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic Human Resources (HR) Intern to join our team this summer and provide daily support as a valued contributor to our HR team. This role will offer you the opportunity to work on the employee facing operational side of HR.
Reporting to the local Sr. HR Manager, this is a temporary onsite work opportunity in Erwin, TN, for the summer of 2027.

Your Day to Day as an HR Intern:
- Research and provide accurate and timely responses to employee inquires.
- Support new hire onboarding and provides a positive employee experience to new hires.
- Support accurate data collection by updating internal employee systems and databases.
- Use available tools and resources to prepare HR-related reports to support the business.
- Review and provide recommendations on ways to improve HR policies & processes.
- Draft engaging employee communications on policy and procedural changes.
- Maintain new hires files while ensuring integrity and confidentiality of records.
- Collaborate with HR and the local management team.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in human resource management, or a closely related field. Advanced degree enrollment can also be considered.
- Ability to handle and work with confidential information within defined requirements.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to report to an assigned work location each day as scheduled.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Eligibility to receive and maintain a DOE security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including Teams.
- Familiarity with, or working knowledge of, U.S. labor laws.
- Familiarity with HRIS and ATS software.
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
