Position Overview:
The Greater Memphis Local Workforce Development Board (GMLWDB) is seeking a highly
motivated college intern to work directly with the Executive Director.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to high-level workforce and economic development initiatives impacting the Memphis region. The intern will assist with research, data analysis, communications, and strategic planning efforts under the guidance of the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and collect data on workforce trends, economic indicators, and regional
development opportunities. - Analyze and interpret data to support strategic initiatives and decision-making.
- Draft memos, reports, presentations, and correspondence for internal and external
audiences. - Assist with meeting preparation, agenda development, and documentation for board or
stakeholder meetings. - Help coordinate outreach and partnership development activities with community leaders,
employers, and economic development organizations. - Participate in special projects and provide administrative support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program (preferred fields: Economics, Public
Policy, Business, Urban Planning, Communications, or related). - Demonstrated interest in economic development, public policy, or workforce strategy.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential or sensitive matters.
Position Details:
- Part-time, flexible hours to accommodate class schedules.
- Paid internship (hourly rate to be discussed).
- Duration: Semester-based or as agreed.
- Work location: Greater Memphis Local Workforce Development Board offices (with
potential for some remote work).
